The Science Fiction Horror and Fantasy Film Review
Christian Cinema (often referred to as faith-based cinema) refers to films made by Christian believers intended for Christian audiences and to preach the message to non-believers. This should be differentiated from regular films that employ Christian themes (depictions of Heaven/Hell, God/The Devil, use of the crucifix to repel vampires etc) as fictional devices. By contrast, the films here are made by people who are believers.
The genre has emerged from sporadic releases of the 1970s to a series of obscure low-budget video-releases in the 1990s to an increasing prominence and mainstream theatrical release in the 2000s employing name stars.
Entries listed here feature appearances of The Almighty, Jesus or the miraculous in the present-day or people who have experiences that lead them to believe. By far and away, the most popular treatments listed here concern themselves with the Biblical End Times Prophecies scenarios – the end of the world as predicted in The Book of Revelations, The Rapture, the rise of the Antichrist etc.
