Theme: Conservative Politics

Conservative or Right-Wing Politics is the opposite end of the spectrum to Liberal Politics. It usually favours the preservation of the way things are, and appeals to maintaining a sense of tradition and/or national, ethnic or religious identity of the majority group within a society.

Modern conservative politics is extremely business friendly and promotes the interests of capitalism. To this end, it usually favours of elimination of regulations regarding environmental protections, taxation, labour laws and most kinds of social welfare as an impediment to business. It is usually pro-nationalistic, favours a sense of national identity to the extent it will exclude elements – often minority groups – that fall outside the majority.

In the USA, conservative politics most frequently stands on the side of and promotes the values of Christian groups and traditional religion, in particular the anti-abortion movement. US politics also opposes any kind of gun control and favours the rights of individuals.
