Theme: Outsiders

Outsiders are persons or beings that come from outside of regular human society. Outsiders come with a unique perspective where the normal assumptions of the everyday world and human experience are alien to them.

Thus works about Outsiders are ones where they are adjusting to everyday experience for the first time; where they find facets of the human condition and its contradictions difficult to understand; or else they are appalled at things that humanity allows to happen (often cruelty to others or despoliation of the environment). Outsider works are frequently comedic in nature but can also be serious works and often come with an aspect of social critique.

Outsiders are most commonly alien visitors but they can also be time travellers. There are also some Outsiders who are supernatural in nature – angels, demons or magical beings that have taken human form for the first time.
