Theme: Bigfoot

Bigfoot or Sasquatch is a mythic humanoid creature that is believed to exist in the woodlands of North America. It is seen as tall and ape-like. There are numerous real world accounts of sightings and claimed evidence of its footprints, although much of this falls into pseudo-science and tabloid exaggeration.

The fascination with Bigfoot began with the Patterson–Gimlin film of 1967, a short piece (less than one minute) that supposedly depicts Bigfoot in the woods. This led to a number of pseudo-documentaries and low-budget films throughout the 1970s.

By the 1980s, Bigfoot has become a regular as a monster in horror film. Treatments from the late 1980s onwards vie between Bigfoot as a monster and others that show it is a shy, genteel creature that is a guardian of the environment. More recent treatments have included a number of Found Footage Bigfoot films, comedies and various children’s/animated films about Bigfoot.
